keith evans
breath transit and the peal of night
with
dylan bolles
keith and dylan collaborate to create a piece for live cinema and shakuhachi. Using 16mm found footage, digital video and spinning copper cylinder, Keith creates a visual landscape of moving light and memory for Dylan to physically occupy. Weaving Dylan’s extended techniques on the shakuhachi with Keith’s processed projector sound, the duo creates a transporting ambient soundtrack that pulls the audience into its organic, cinematic gravity.

nicholas chase
ngoma lungundu
(voice that thunders)

a piece for electronics and interactive video inspired by the mythical/mystical drum carried and guarded by the Lemba people of Africa, a drum that speaks with the absolute voice of Nature, a call-to-being. In developing Ngoma, Chase incorporates the organic movement of the body as its visual narrative. Sequences of live action film, hand-drawn animation and vector graphics are being combined, layered, shaped, and manipulated in real-time response to the sound/music of Ngoma and form the choreographic element of what is, essentially, a dance piece with no dancers.
